We suspect this possum is dead - seen in this position in the hollow for the past few days.

Hi Lisa, Live ones do roost like that too sometimes, for weeks on end, poking out where they look vulnerable to attack, and to the weather. Sometimes with only the sky above them. But also this could be a dead one.

Sorry, this was my mistake. The possum did not stir even when we went right up to it and there were some insects buzzing around, however it is not visible this morning, so it is clearly alive.
