I'm not sure if these are buds yet to open or if they have been chewed by something. The tips look a bit ragged, but too fuzzy to be sure. Anyway I hope you can go back and check them later to see what happens. It looks like Aaron's Hill is quite an orchid hotspot!

Agree Cath, plus more and more I'm thinking the actual stems are NOT from the orchid leaved are just a coincidence of something else shooting up very close to the leaves..

Diplodium has separate flowering and non-flowering plants. What you are seeing is mostly leaf rosettes of non-flowering plants and a few flowering stems coming up beside them.

Wow I never knew that Cath. So Diplodium babies coming up then. I.e. likely to be autumn greenhoods?

Definitely. My guess would perhaps be D. revolutum or even laxum. The stems look a bit tall for truncatum.

They look like they have been chewed. Sorry to disappoint.

Perhaps the satellite wasn't linked when this image was taken looking at the map placement. I manage Piney Ridge for PCS, it would be great to clarify the location of this sighting on CNM. Cheers, Nic
