Significant sighting

ArcherCallaway noted:

Critically endangered species which only occasionally visits the ACT. First ACT record for a couple of years, and the first for CNM.

User's notes

A very surprising visitor to my birdbath.

Great record! I haven't seen one in Canberra for over 40 years.

Still yet to see a Regent Honeyeater in the ACT, but this gives me a little bit of hope.

Hopefully we will see the day when they are common visitors to all our bird baths.

I wonder what the CNM record for the most likes is... this must be getting pretty close!

I noticed this bird species was in some national news today regarding a known breeding location for them that is under threat of possible development: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-03-29/push-to-protect-critically-endangered-regent-honeyeaters/10934296

I posted a link to this page on the Field Naturalists of Victoria group on Facebook and there were over 100 likes.

What is the Nature Map policy on allowing our photos to be used by media groups? I ask as I have just seen that Riotact have used this photo without my knowledge or permission and have given photo credit to Nature Map and not me?

Hi @rawshorty the policy is definitely that use of media is by permission only with the photo owner (you) via the request use of media button below the photos on the sighting. Apologies this has happened, I have reached out to the riot-act to rectify, I await their response. I have also updated our website so it is easier to find info on requests for use of media. And there is our privacy and data management policy available here: https://canberra.naturemapr.org/content/privacy

Thanks @jksmits I did not think I had given up my copywrite when adding photos here. I wonder how they got the photo? It seems odd that a media company would breach copywrite laws. I might have to hit them up for some compensation for stealing my photo and using it for profit.
