User's notes

Flowers are 12-13 mm across. I'd like to which species it is.

Wahlenbergia communis is now Wahlenbergia capillaris. I think this is a colour mutation. It fits Wahlenbergia capillaris except for the colour. It would help to see reasonably mature seed cases to be 100% sure.

They do not look anything like 3872668 (Wahlenbergia capillaris). If it is a mutation it is not just a colour mutation, the flower never opens properly but remains cone shaped, the size of the plant, leaves and general stature are all reduced by about 50%. They also seem to grow in a more protected environment.

Wahlenbergia luteola?

I thought about Wahlenbergia luteola but could see no evidence of the opaque whitish or yellowish outside surface, or that the lowest leaves were opposite each other. The Vicflora key is a pain, because the lead separating Wahlenbergia luteola from capillaris is on details of the style, which I have never been able to get a handle on even when I dissect the flower.

Do you see the flower in the first image? I can see it on my computer but it is cropped off on my phone.

The outside surface of the petals looks on the field like an opaque creamy white which when photographed in the field look white (4th photo). When taken inside to photo the outside seems to colour more. The flower looks like that of 3367124 in Reid. Not sure about the leaves etc.

Wahlenbergia luteola normally opens wide like other Wahlenbergias. Apart from suggesting a mutation which could be the same one that produces the purple flowers, I cannot explain it. https://keys.lucidcentral.org/keys/v3/plants_se_nsw/key/plants_se_nsw/Media/Html/entities/wahlenbergia_luteola.htm
