Does the brown make this a Pacific Black Duck cross?

The following link has some tips on distinction between black duck - mallard hybrids. I'm sure there was another resource as well but can't find it. I think the colouring is just staining from the water, as you may have occasionally seen with Little Pied Cormorants or Grey Teals.
