ANBG Section 112 Rutacea.
Thanks to Marcus Leach for the initial sighting of these male GCBs high up in this bush. They were difficult to see as they were mixed in with many honey bees.
Two male GCBs were present at the same time over a 5 minute period and stayed well separated from each other. These images are of one of this first pair. Another male appeared 22 minutes after the first pair left and was only present for a couple of minutes. (Possibly one of the first pair returning?) No more sightings were made during the 20 minutes after the third GCB left.
Watch for males patrolling above chosen landmarks. Their flight is quite noisy and they will dive down to chase anything that appears to fly through their territory (including pebbles thrown into the air).
