One of the diagnostics is the beige to yellowish felting on the backs of the leaves. Please comment.

Zooming in on my photos, there seems to be a yellow felting underneath the leaves and the new leaves are a felted grey on top. The leaves reminded us of a Rhododendron, which is why we took the photos (not knowing what an Olearia was back in 2008). The height would have been around 1-1.2 metres and the flowers were largish, approx. 3cm.
