This sighting was made in 2006-09-28 but the program would not accept the date. Red wattle bird fluffed up chicks resting outside a window. Red wattle birds are still common in this area - they can see off many other species.
I had the privilege a few years ago during a heat wave, when on opening the laundry door a small red wattle bird distressed chick, literally flew onto and enclosed a finger with very very sharp claws! Letting it access water soon revived it but persuading it to release its hold was an exercise in patience.
