So many lady birds! I recall seeing a few around in previous trips to the Mt Majura summit. This appears to be the source - a nest (?) within the survey marker.

Yes they were aestivating on top of Mount Majura too, a couple of weeks ago.

Very interesting! I have seen Spotted lady bird beetles aestivating around this site (west slope Mt Majura summit) years ago for several years in a row 9when i was still walking regularly up to the summit). Perhaps they use Mt Majura summit as a visual landmark? similar to hill top mating?
