Thanks Don. Other sites (eg Animal Diversity Web) have said that the browns prefer wet forest but also live in dry, where they are more arboreal. Is there a good way to tell the Brown and Dusky apart?
I presume you mean Antechinus swainsonii, which is much bigger than stuartii. It is active at sny time of dsy. http://animaldiversity.org/accounts/Antechinus_swainsonii/ http://animaldiversity.org/accounts/Antechinus_stuartii/
A agilis is another possibility, but the ochre shading on belly and flanks (and the hint of an eye-ring) tips it towards A flavipes for me. A agilis generally has a pale grey belly in the Canberra area.
