While the RHS forewing in the posted image is out of focus, the oval spot is clearly visible on the LHS. I have suggested the common name for the species as 'Oval-spot Taxeotis' conforming with the common name given for this species by Moths of Victoria, Part/Vol. 4, p.17. However I note Lepidoptera Butterfly House (LBH) gives 'Orange-spotted Taxeotis' for this species on the species' own page, but gives the name 'Oval-spot' on the species list page linking to it. Moths of Victoria reserves 'Orange-spotted' for T. xanthogramma '.(part/Vol. 4, p.17) as also does LBH on their species list page for Oenochrominae - so there appears to be typo on the LBH species page for T. stereospila (NB. D. Herbison-Evans!)

Thank you. Missed that one. Hopefully fixed now. Yes sure looks like Taxeotis stereospila, caught out of its Monster Face pose. Hopefully it will regain its composure for Halloween:

3384296 and 3384028 seem to be the same species and are much yellower than most Taxeotis species. They are close to some of the variable ANIC specimens put together as Taxeotis epigaea. (BOLD has put some of them in 3 different Bins, so they are probably a mixture of species.) All the ANIC specimens are from the coast and mountains from northern NSW to the Atherton tableland. Some other similar specimens have been recorded from the south coast into Victoria (eg MoV Taxeotis sp1). It seems best to record the two CNM records as Taxeotis sp nr epigaea.
