Golden wattle in flower on wattle day, surely the day we should celebrate being a nation. This wattle is one of about 1,000 plants from a 1920s nation building exercise where white coloured plants were planted on Mugga Mugga as part of the griffin's grand vision of restoring vegetation to Canberra's denuded hills, by painting the landscape with collared pants - in addition to the gold flowers, golden wattle has a white stem.
