User's notes

Sooty mould (Ascomycete fungi). Very common and obvious problem on a range of native and exotic plants. The fungi grow on the secretion of various insects, in this case tiny white scale. The secretions attract ants (see first photo) who further spread the scale. Couldn't find an entry for sooty mould but there is probably one somewhere.
