This is the oldest live tree in the woodland - it has been identified as an apple box by several foresters and estimates of its age range from 250-500 years. Unfortunately it is being crowded out by surrounding plantings made in the last 60-70 years. There are about 150 apple trees in the woodland.
Trunk girth at 130cm height is 3.975
The shape of the scar is a bit unusual. I have taken some more photos of the scar, the foresters seemed to think it was an old fire scar. Any other ideas?
