The ALA uses the name Leioproctus (Leioproctus) irroratus for this species. Should we do the same?

Yes. It is probably a good idea to keep the terminology consistent across different sites.
Taxonomically, only the generic and specific parts of the name are important and omission of the subgeneric part will not cause any uncertainty or ambiguity. The use of subgenera has been more common in bee taxonomy because Charles Michener took the conservative view that premature creation of new genera could result in the need to rename species shaould they later be transferred to a new genus. The subgeneric name, therefore, is a placemarker indicating a group that may become a new genus when enough additional information has been accumulated.
