The Southern Brown Bandicoot is an extremely rare or probably extinct species in the ACT region except for a small population introduced to the 'Sanctuary' enclosure within the open range zoo at Tidbinbilla. The Long-nosed Bandicoot which is probably still present in the wild in the ACT not far from Tidbinbilla, has longer ears and snout and pale fur underneath.
