Bats regularly seen flying in this area as there are small crevices in the rocks nearby and old mineshafts

Thanks for this. The only bats we have had photos for so far have been grey headed flying foxes.

That's ok Michael. Its always nice to get photos of some of the more interesting species. Shame they seem to be really hard to ID...

ID advice provided from Doug Mills of NSW Office of Environment who said "my best guess is Nyctophilus geoffroyi"

Michael, It is the most common Nyctophilus to turn up in the ANWC Collection from the Canberra region and it certainly looks like geoffroyi. The other possibility is gouldi and they can best be told apart by the shape of the grove in the post nasal ridge, T shaped in gouldi and Y in geoffroyi. A really good close up of the face showing the post nasal ridge might have helped. Something to consider in future records.
