Not Acacia lanigera, whose leaves hane several parallel veins and are more or less sharp tipped. The ACT is way out of area for that species and it is unlikely anyone would have dumped garden waste containing it.

Acacia lanigera var lanigera has been recorded on one spot on Black Mountain by Rosemary Purdie and near the Federal Highway at the northern end of Mt Majura by myself. This seems to be a third location and if so is a significant local find and possibly the largest local population. Stephen if possible a photo of a seed pod would be very helpful as would a close up of the leaf. Thanks Michael M

Rosemary Purdie stated

"Hi Michael

Found the population adjacent to the path - it's definitely Acacia lanigera
subsp. lanigera. I've just loaded some photos on CNM, and have taken a
specimen for the herbarium. The population adjacent to the track
(coordinates as in the CNM entry below) had probably 12-15 plants present of
various sizes/ages. Several more plants were present 10-12 m downslope @ 35
15 54.3, 149 04 32.9, and several more further away @ 35 15 54.6, 149 04
32.5; I couldn't find any above the track - it's had a recent fuel reduction
burn but there was no sign of dead plants, regrowth or seedlings. The plants
are much bigger than those on BM, and have put on a lot of growth this
spring, which is why they looked different in the CNM photo entry below.

Definitely an important find.
