Dusty found 4 dead shinglebacks within a few days all with similar injuries ie cut-open or cut-off tails.
Does anyone have an idea what could have caused these injuries?
It is sickening to see all the dead shinglebacks.

Although I have not seen this before my best guess is that a predator/scavanger is taking advantage of a possible birthing event. Something with the right tools and smart enough to work out, perhaps in isolated cases how to do it. The most likely culprit could be a Raven, but until they are caught in the act we can only speculate and be careful not to draw too many hasty conclusions. The sky has not fallen yet!
