Ryu, they look to be growing from half-buried wood. Am I right? If so then it's a species of Mucronella. From recollection there are two species in the ACT, but I'll check on that.

I'm not quite sure. The Fire trail was about 0.5m below the surrounding ground level. This, from memory, was growing on something protruding probably around the middle of the vertical soil 'walls' of the fire trail

Thanks. The pendulous (rather than upright) growth form, the size and colour and what looks like wood strongly suggest Mucronella.
