This was widely planted as a lawn substitute in Canberra when we were making our garden 40 odd years ago. At that time it was regarded as a native plant. The very similar Phyla canescens is a noxious weed throughout NSW, It would be worthwhile getting the herbarium to check a specimen. It is hard to tell from a photo which species it is.
