This beetle is sometimes black. That is called P. stygia. Although technically a different species, they are the same, in my opinion. There is an intermediate color form, with three stripes, originally named P. trivittata. That one is now synonymized and called P. stygia. If Paropsisterna is ever sorted out, I think think all three colors will be called P. stygia.
