Canberra Urban Biodiversity Surveys - Volunteer now!

Spring has arrived, making it a fantastic time for monitoring bees and other pollinators. We are calling for volunteers to take part in the Canberra Urban Biodiversity Survey (CUBS) insect pollinator monitoring program. This will involve visits to a designated site, between October and March to survey insect pollinators on flowering plants in grasslands, woodlands, and urban parks in our beloved Canberra.

Volunteers will upload photographs and records of insect pollinators and flowering plants onto Canberra Nature Map, which will be used by experts to identify the insects.

There will be a series of training sessions to assist volunteers in identifying pollinators and collecting reliable data.

Previous experience photographing small invertebrates is preferred, however if you do not have this experience there are other ways to help. Please reach out for further information.
