Possibly a stem-girdling weevil, Othorhinus klugii, sighted chewing around a stem. Sighting and images by Marcus Leach.

The oblique white band on the side of the elytra (sometimes indistinct on presumably aged individuals) is a good diagnostic feature for O. klugii. It is also smaller than O. cylindirostris.
