Sequence photographed over 3 minutes. In image 2, the beginning of the sequence, the female has not quite emerged from her pupal case (seen at bottom of photo) and the male is already waiting, but trying to avoid an attacking ant. As soon as she is clear, he attempts to mate, but ants get both of them and drag them away in different directions.
