The insects were perched on the side of a tree. The true perspective is shown in the second and third images. The perspective of the other images has been rotated 90 degrees clockwise to make the insect details easier to view. The insect on the right of the first image (i.e. the insect perched higher up the tree) has eyes with a green hue, unlike the other insect. Male and female characteristics?
