Papyrius sp (undescribed) (Hairy Coconut Ant)

This species of Papyrius is very similar to the Shining Coconut Ant, Papyrius nitidus. In general appearance the Hairy Coconut Ant is slightly larger and darker than P. nitidus and records suggest that it does not produce areas covered in carton, but will still accumulate loose areas of particles to block holes or cracks. Like P. nitidus, the Hairy Coconut Ant smells strongly of coconut when disturbed or crushed.
