User's notes

Appears to be a male. This specimen of a Bright Copper varies from images shown in field guides and ALA: The orange patch in the forewing extends to the leading edge of the forewing; the dark spot within the orange patch in the forewing is within the orange patch, but not on the inner margin; the banding on the abdomen is more distinct than shown on most images; the underwing pattern is of a pale background and distinct dark lines, not a speckled colour

Yes, I agree it appears to be a silky hairstreak.
In my identification notes I didn't mention the appearance of tails on the hindwings which I thought were remnants of worn hind wings

It was found in suitable habitat with tall E. viminalis with understorey of Acacia dealbata as well as scattered Bursaria.
