While Gnathothlibus eras does sometimes range as far south as eastern Victoria,this species normally occurs in Northern Australia. Above moth's forewing markings (dark band across wing - dark patches in G. eras) better match Hippotion scrofa. G. eras also has a small white dot with black ring around it on forewing which I cannot see here. The white markings are particularly striking on this specimen.
