Several trees are presumably from historical plantings around the water tank in Hackett. They were all in flower early August 2026. They do not appear to be a local species. Characterised by fine box bark, compound axillary and terminal inflorescences, distinctive bud types.

However Peter's measurements on the buds rule out E. microcarpa. Peduncle length, Pedicel + bud length and Bud width are all outside the microcarpa range in Euclid.
The sighting from 2018 identified by botanist Isobel Crawford Eucalyptus albens (White Box) shows fruits and is from the same group of trees.
Glaucousness develops on the buds as they mature. Branchlets often have sections with with mature glaucous buds and younger green buds. This sighting seems to be just at the start of floweing and not showing glaucousness, but later samples from all 5 trees have glaucous mature buds.

Thanks for your help, and I agree that E. albens is probably the best id. It's interesting to learn that glaucousness can develop on buds as they age.
