User's notes

The moth was sighted emerging from a small patch of earth adjacent to a brick wall. The moth was clearly struggling to inflate its wings and to progress up the wall. Close inspection showed that a part of the hard shell had failed to come away from the moth’s head, leaving what appeared as a dark face mask. As seen in the second and last images, the moth only had limited vision which was downwards. The moth was eventually left on a bush with its wings fully inflated but with the mask still in place. Close up details of the feature are provided in following sighting 4730744 for NatureMapr’s records.
