I assume it is a variable peacock spider, the black spots are smaller than on the ones I see in Canberra

Aah. Was this by chance found south of Canberra? Possible to get a rough location?

Excellent. I am aware of a population approx 8km west of there. Was the ground grassland and rocky?

Interesting opisthosomal colouration. M. chrysomelas is looking like the best fit for this one, very unusual from the regular patterning. It could be a genetic mutation, subspecies or even new species. With 119 Maratus species (not to mention all the undescribed ones floating around) and counting, it isn't impossible to be a new species
