Identified as planted in this street and some other streets in north Lyneham in https://www.woodcraftguild.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/ACT-STREET-TREES.pdf
Photographed to show some identifying characteristics. Leaf length sometimes exceeded that listed in the Euclid description. The highest number of buds found in an umbel was 6, whereas Euclid says 7 in the text but shows fewer in the photographs which accompany the text. Mostly had 5 buds in the umbel. (The gum nuts in the photographs were collected from under another gum tree of the same type located at the North Lyneham shops and they are slightly larger than the Euclid description.) The bark from a distance looks black.
Thanks Michael. I was misled by the ACT-STREET-TREES.pdf! At the shops, only supposed to be 2 species of Eucalyptus, and there are 2 of each of 2 species, but our first impression was that this one was an ironbark.
