lurking about in, and flying low over grass is common for these fellas. They were imprinted on my brain after spending hours chasing them about trying to get pictures as they went about ovipositing in the grass. I also got to see a larvae digging a vertical hole to pupate in. Climbing head first down the hole and backing out with 'handfulls' of dirt. You could keep a look out in the area for the handsome, large, ground feeding caterpillars.
Vine moths etc tend to be higher up (shoulder height +) and interested in other plants.
