Nice find, Helen. Not recorded on CNM or iNat in the ACT previously, only seen on the coast.
Common name - Banksia bee - usually found on Banksia.
Desperate place to build a nest!

Thanks Peter, I've just been reading about them. There are no Banksias around here either (or the other plant species they've been recorded on)! And it's tiny, only around 5mm

Sorry, Helen, I got a bit excited seeing that blue abdomen - clearly not a Banksia bee on closer inspection - too small and wrong collar. Not an obvious ID - need to check further.

I think that blue colour is just a trick of the light - pretty sure H. amiculinus is correct.
