There are 2 species in these photographs.
The second one isn’t Castiarina crenata however it may be Castiarina kershawi. It would be good if there were better pictures of the second species

@MarkH oops, sorry! I didn't realise. I'm a botanist who just likes looking at insects. I'll seperate the other photos into their own sighting now.

Agree with @MarkH re two species. The main subject is Castiarina interstincta which is fairly uncommon and in the lower background is Castiarina kershawi which is seen much more often. Cheers, Allen M. Sundholm.

Good find Christine! Interesting that the elytral costae, usually prominent in C. intersticta, don't seem to be apparent in these shots. The character "elytra costate" is a diagnostic one for Barker's (2006) "coeruleipes species group", where he placed C. interstincta.

Oooo..@KimberiRP is absolutely right...the elytra are not with 'alternatively prominent' costae! If not Castiarina interstincta then likely both specimens are Castiarina kershawi, but the main subject is really odd for Castiarina kershawi, as it lakes the basal fasciae 'normally' present in Castiarina kershawi. TIf possible, specimens of whatever it is should be collected and deposited in the Australlan Museum, Sydney, as well as in the Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC) at Black Mountain, Canberra. If any further spares I'd be interested in a couple to see if I can match the physical specimens to those of Castiarina interstincta and Castiarina kershawi. I am on Facebook, and can easily be contacted via Facebook Messenger, or WhatsApp. Cheers, Allen

@entom2 hi Allen, if I happen to see it again I'll collect. I've only seen one so far, but who knows, I may get lucky.
