User's notes

Spotted some movement in the grass and found this case moth. Probably the most advanced one I've found. It was grabbing blades of grass then jerking it's head as if trying (unsuccessfully) to tear it off. I watched it for some time until a tiny ant crawled over it and it retreated into its case. It's then that I made an error of judgement. I wanted to observe it some more so rather than taking it with me I left it where it was while I went to get a container to collect it to raise to a moth. I hadn't expected it to come out of its case very quickly but when I got back the local Magpie had arrived with its begging chick and it had just grabbed the caterpillar and shaken from its case. A nice juicy snack for bub but a missed opportunity for me - on two counts. I did get some viseo footage as well though.

did it have some sticks in the case longer than the rest (sticking further out at the bottom)? Or were they all fairly even length ?

@WendyEM I still have the case. The sticks are all even so probably not what I suggested.
