@AlisonMilton, I think your photo is showing a vertical furrow at the end of the bee's abdomen. This is a characteristic of a Lasioglossum female as described on page 40 of Native bees of the ACT and NSW South Coast A SPOTTER'S GUIDE by Peter Abbott.
