User's notes

This seems to us a Ring Tree. These trees are believed to have been used to mark the boundaries between one Nation and another. These trees are most commonly associated with Clans and Nations found along the Murray River, but are also found in many other areas in South Eastern Australia. Located beside the main track onto a private property. This was also the route used by Europeans to access the higher parts of the property as far back as the late 1800's when there was gold mining in Ournie.

Hard to tell exactly which species of eucalypt without close-up photos of the leaves, buds and fruit.
