just the pupa shell from many miths. emergered from the ground most likly in the last week. small rain events during the week and new moon.

Hepialids are also called rain moths. Too large for Bogong Moth. Have a look at Agrotis infusa (Bogong Moth, Common Cutworm) or enter 4609211 in 'Quick search" versus
Abantiades atripalpis (Bardee grub/moth, Rain Moth) or enter 4663345 in 'Quick search" in NatureMapr
