wingless so probably a female; moving fast across a tree trunk and only managed one long range shot

This is a beetle larva, very likely Melyridae-Malachiinae, of which Dicranolaius is a common member. It is a close match to Fig. 34i in Lawrence & Slipinski (2013) 'Australian beetles, Volume 1. Morphology, classification and keys' (CSIRO).
