yesterday i saw a dead rabbit beside the bluemetal track. today a dead fox. i did not examine it but from a distance it looked healthy. can anyone explain? maybe rabbit was poisobed

Random things are clumped. (Exactly even spacing is the opposite of random). So a low level of coincidence like this is not evidence of a pattern. And there is a huge amount of mortality going on in nature, mostly unnoticed. I would refrain from thinking of explanations such as poisoning or disease until and unless more information becomes available.

Maybe they were shot. Maybe they were roadkill. Next time it might help to examine carcasses to rule out some likely explanations such as shooting or roadkill.

PCS rangers would often drop road kill or animals injured and then shot in nature reserve. often found close to a management road. I used to pick up dead rabbits and in one case a dead hare without visible injuries, gave it to CSIRO or asked CSIRO to pick up after providing coordinates. Turned out that 2 rabbits and the one hare were killed by Calicivirus. The hare was killed by a naturally occurring strain that infects hares and rabbits. Typical position in death caused by Calicivirus shown by the hare Lepus capensis (Brown Hare) with comments by CSIRO about the virus.
