Thanks, Jon. Is there anything I can do to improve the photograhic targeting of ID characters?

Hi Con, the absolute ideal is three pictures: one looking at the head like a full face portrait of a person, one directly from the side and one directly from above. Not easy to do in the field. But something to aspire to! Good luck, and we appreciate everything you post. Cheers, Jon

Hi Con, this AntWiki site shows the three typical pictures. The pictures are taken of dead, mounted specimens with specialist camera set-ups. https://antwiki.org/wiki/Iridomyrmex_rufoniger
