I collected this beautifully constructed larval case on 21 Dec 2024. The caterpillar moved around the container for a day or so, but it was very camera-shy and I only got one photo. Today, 16 Jan 2025, the wasp shown in the last photo hatched.

Thanks Helen. That's not what I was expecting! The wasp egg or larva must already have been inside when I collected the case, but hadn't yet killed the caterpillar.
