This needs verification. I have only seen it once on the Badja Fire Trail, but the snub nose suggests it belongs to the Pseudophyllinae

@rogerf oh wow, that would be so cool! I did think it didn't quite match the Torpia sightings I saw on iNat but how cool!!!

I i.ded it as "look at this cool leafy thing that looks like an actual leaf!" Very scientific.

@RogerF Looking at iNat (I couldn't find any online records for Mastigapha) it looks like it could be Narea kungaree. Perhaps the modern name of the same critter?

Yes there seems to have been a name change. I will check with Youning

The Psudophyllinae were revised by Rentz, Youning & Ueshima in 2015 when Mastigapha (Karsch) was synonymised with Narea (Walker). A useful summary of the Pseudophyllinae by Matthew Connor is found in i-naturalist.

@RogerF ah, the nature of science, names constantly changing!

Youning prefers to keep the the ID of your specimen as Narea sp, as there are still several undescribed species from NSW in the collection.

@RogerF @Csteele4 Narea kungaree seems correct. See https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/956866-Narea-kungaree/browse_photos It was a cool day and a lot of insects were not on their natural food source. Perhaps having fallen and not had the energy to move.

Youning is the expert on this genus and sub-family so I would I would defer to him rather than Connors.
