This looked like a Wombat hole & had dirt freshly dug from it, but I couldn't find any Wombat dung in the vicinity, only a few feathers near the freshly pushed-out dirt, so maybe a fox has taken over an old hole??

Wombats have been reintroduced to Mt Majura but I'm not sure whether they settled in; there are some rare sightings of wombats wandering around and one sighting of a wombat in front of its hole; however, since this record the hole was destroyed by illegal BMX bike track building. There is certainly a vivid fox population on Mt Majura. I observed a fox which took over a large rabbit warren; the signs were clear: several decapitated chuck carcasses around....
