User's notes

Initially thought it was a wasp but perhaps a flying ant. Its iridescent wings possibly damaged. Its movements jerky and erratic.

In my copy of R Farrow, Insects of South Eastern Australia there is almost a carbon copy of my photos here identifying them as being of a wasp- mimicking robber fly Daptolestes limbipennis (Asilidae:Daogononae).
