I too have recorded a similar looking moth, see sighting No. 4352655, as have you also, see 4412765

I saw those sightings yesterday Ian. This moth has such a distinctive pattern that I would have though we should be able to identify it to species but clearly not.

Rupicolana orthias has a black 'shoulder' mark at the base of the forewing, this apparent moth species has an equivalent white mark.

Given that you found this very similar specimen in ALA I think we can go with Rupicolana orthias. Do you thing we should ask Glenn?
