Eggs or slime mould? I'm guessing it's a slime mould. On underside of log.

Terrific find.... did you collect?
Do hope you observe again tomorrow. I suspect it may become darker prior to dehiscing for spore release.
My initial guess is a Trichia sp but really need to see the mature subject and preferably be able to do micros to be 100% certain.
