User's notes

35m tree, one of the biggest in Canberra. Not sure of species. A few in this reach 35+m plus one 36m+. Good bunch of hollows. Probably planted?

Yes planted, looks like one of the forest blue gums. Either Eucalyptus bicostata or E.maidenii. Buds or gum fruits separate the two. I can check next time I am passing by that area.

All good I’ll get the buds.

Nice hollow in this one

@jks I checked the fruits. Umbels 3 flowered, fruits broadly obconical - 2 ribbed, disc raised, 4 or 5 valves, so @MichaelMulvaney is correct: E.globulus subsp bicostata (eurabbie). I noticed the taxonomy has changed and E.globulus subsp. bicostata is now E.bicostata. @MichaelMulvaney should we update the species database? If so we will have to update E.globulus subsp. maidenii to E.maidenii, E.globulus subsp. pseudoglobulus to E. pseudoglobulus, and E.globulus subsp E.globulus to E.globulus.

I would support this as well

I will have a go at it. I understand that I will have to create the 4 new species on the gum trees page. Then add in synonyms.

@Tapirlord Completed. Works well. If someone tries to use the synonym, NatureMapr jumps to the revised name. The NSW PlantNET classifications for sub-series Euglobulares (the forest blue gums) now also match the Kew Plants of the World classifications, and Dr Dean Nicolle's treatment of this sub-series:
